Many people think that coronaviruses are new. They are not. The current pandemic is caused by a unique form of coronavirus never seen before and is therefore called the Novel Coronavirus -2019 or simply COVID-19. Prior to this pandemic, coronaviruses were known to cause the common cold along with other potential viruses called rhinoviruses.
